Fly those stars & stripes!!
With only 4 days until July 4th I really wanted to post a photo from an Americana set that Sophie & I shot together. Even though I am English/Norwegian my parents have lived in America for the majority of my life, and spending so much time there has led me to consider it my adopted home. Last year we celebrated July 4th with a mini American themed tea party at my apartment in London, with myself, my mum, my sister, and our brother and his wife (a native Texan). I haven’t made plans for this year (yet), but I hope to find a good fireworks display to go to!
We shot this set in a studio with a giant flag – a bit of a mission to hang up but it all worked out in the end! The dress was absolutely gorgeous – really retro 50s style and had a boned bust with a nipped in waist and tulip skirt to add curves on the hips. Marvelous! Pretty much should have grown up in 1950s America…
Happy July 4th!

I absolutely loved this shoot! I’ve wanted an opportunity to shoot a really powerful war-propaganda-esque image for ages and this was the perfect chance. I had the famous ‘We Can Do It’ poster in mind in with the colours, and I chose to go for a really simple lighting combination of a large beauty dish as the key light with a small softbox flash to fill in.
