It’s Halloween on Monday and I thought I’d post some costume inspiration for any of you that haven’t sorted yourself out yet! I know what I’m going as…do you?

Dress – Suzannah; Shoes – Vivienne Westwood; Clutch – Alexander McQueen; Earrings – Noir

Dress – Minkpink; Skirt – Whistles; Boots – Opening Ceremony; Choker – Tarina Tarantino; Bracelet – Betsey Johnson

Dress – Isabel Garreton; Shoes – Vivienne Westwood; Hair Bow – Debenhams; Bag – Christian Louboutin

Dress – StyleStalker; Shoes – Forever 21

I picked up this gorgeous, sweeping floor-length chiffon dress from StyleStalker. They really do some great stuff! The strapping and cut-outs caught my eye, and it will be a great layering piece for the colder months (as well as a lovely evening dress).

We shot on location in front of the Lloyd’s building and in the courtyard opposite. It was freezing!! So I hope you all like the photos. :)

The sculpture in the first image is by ‘Anish Kapoor’, and I love it! It made for a more unusual image. In the other two images I played with a single strobe w/ umbrella and relatively slow shutter speeds, to get a sense of movement and emotion.

We find ourselves with an enduring trend for floral prints. From last summer until next summer, florals are here to stay! This pleases me endlessly, as I am a sucker for anything pretty and girly. One big question though: how do you wear florals in winter? My floral garments are usually packed away for this season, together with my denim cutoffs, sandals and bikinis.

On the A/W ’11 catwalks the designers that worked the autumnal flower best were Miu Miu and Mary Katrantzou…

Miu Miu ties it in perfectly with the Forties look, another hot trend this season. You can find your own perfect Forties floral dress at New Look, ASOS, or Topshop. All of them are doing great versions of this extremely wearable, ladylike look.

Looking forward to S/S ’12 we saw a development from the typical floral print dress to floral trousers and entire jumpsuits in bold or abstract floral prints.  Both Vionnet and Peter Som used bright prints on trousers and jackets to put together entire print looks. Prabal Gurung had an alternative take on florals, using enlarged and distorted close-up images.

If you’re daring enough, try an entire outfit comprised of florals like Prabal Gurung or Vionnet:

Too much? Just the trousers then…

If it’s all a bit much for you, you can always stick to the fail safe floral dress! Prepare yourself for extreme brights and giant prints though. Floral is going to get BIG!!!
